OESD Holiday Card--Machine Embroidery 10/26/24
OESD November Embroidery Project: Join us as we create a Card this month
We will be learning about selecting the correct stabilizer, hooping tips, and selecting the correct card for your project. Joan will share how she made her card samples.
Please bring the following: Registration for this class begins September 1, 2024 at 10am ONLINE.
-Embroidery machine, embroidery unit, embroidery foot and power cord
-Pre-wound embroidery bobbin or one that you wind yourself with embroidery bobbin thread
Center pin will be needed on class L pre-wound bobbin
-2 A7 ( 5"x7") cards from OESD. (We will be using half of the second card to cover stitching on the inside of card.)
-1 piece of white felt approx. 9"x12" for front applique base of card
-Plain white embroidery for card placement lines. You will be making a freestanding snowflake element also so check additional information below. You can use the same white thread to make your lace snowflake
-Embroidery thread per chart, found on OESD website. You can you your own colors too, so choose what you want!
-5x7 inch embroidery hoop with OESD STABILSTICK Tear Away Stabilizer or Baby Lock STICK-TEAR stabilizer cut to fit the size of your 5x7" -hoop
-Scissors and rotary cutter for trimming your design applique. SEWabilities will supply the cutting mats.
-OESD Scoring tool or pin to score your sticky stabilizer
-Punch tool for holes to add lace element
-Brad to hold element or glue to attach which you will do at home after you rinse out and dry lace
Load design into your machine prior to class. We will loading the design to your OESD account the day before class so that you can download to USB. Let us know if you need help.
Basic sewing supplies/toolbox that you bring to every class with scissors, seam ripper, screwdriver tools for your machine, pins, etc.
In Addition to the above you will need this for the card:
OESD Design from New Christmas Collection will be placed in your online account with OESD. Greeting Cards in A7 size, (5"x7") for this project in white are available at the store
There is a freestanding lace element to this card, so you will need some white embroidery thread for the snowflake with bobbin thread wound with the same thread . Pieces should be cut approx. 5” x7”.
OESD Press and Seal sheet approximately 5"x7" to adhere another card front or piece of fabric for inside cover or glue stick. You will need a half of a second 5" x 7" blank card cut on the fold to cover the back of the embroidery on the inside of the card for extra support of the lace attachment.

Skill Details: | All levels and all brands of embroidery machines with 5x7" or larger embroidery hoop are welcome in this class! Machine must be able to be loaded with a design from a USB Stick to participate. |
