Serger Project: In Full Bloom Art
Come make this fun serger art project in time for Spring! Learn how to make serger crochet, use decorative threads, Ruffle, Wire Edged fabrics, turning corners with no tails and more. You will learn the skills in class, and finishing your art will be up to you and your imagination when class is finished. Make it into framed art, use it as a scrapbook page, table decor, door hanger ---whatever you can dream.
This project is a skill builder class and is NOT intended for those unfamiliar with threading their machine.
MUST HAVE BABY LOCK AIR THREAD SERGER (VICTORY OR HIGHER ---MUST HAVE A, B, C, D DIAL ON RIGHT OF MACHINE)
Supplies to bring:
- Your Serger (SEE NOTE BELOW ABOUT WHAT TO BRING WITH YOUR SERGER)
with Feet Required for Class: Standard foot, Curve Foot, Elastic Foot and Clear foot
- Four cones of regular serger thread, 2 for needles in Gray and 2 in loopers in white
- Please bring 4-6 scraps of fabric to test your stitches
- NEW pack of EL x 705CF needles size 90/14
For yellow Flowers:
4 qty 3" squares of quilting cotton (solid is best), ironed and starched
2 qty 3" squares of OESD Soft Web or Steam-a-Seam Lite
Threads: 2 qty 12 Weight Threads for UL and LL and one regular serger thread to match those choices.
For Green Leaves:
2 Qty Pieces of cotton fabric 4" x 16" (Choose a fabric that looks leafy! Two prints so your leaves can be reversible!)
1 qty piece of OESD Soft Web or Steam a Seam Light 4" x 16"
Threads: 2 Qty 12 Weight Threads for UL and LL and one regular serger thread to match those choices.
For Serger Crochet Flower:
2 spools of same color 12 Wt Thread
1 Regular serger thread to match that choice
1 piece of matching fabric to your 12wt threads, cut on the bias measuring 1" x 15"-20" long (please iron this and starch it well)
For Wire Edged Roses:
Peach Grunge fabric cut to 2" x 20"
Matching 2 Qty 12 Wt threads or do as I did (one Razzle 8wt metallic and one 12 Wt solid)
1 regular serger thread to match your fabric
24 -28 Gauge wire (sold at Hobby Lobby in jewelry department)
Supplies listed ABOVE PLUS also basic sewing supplies like scissors, Fray Check, your accessories that came with your serger, your quick threading guide, screwdrivers, power cord, Frixion marking pin, tweezers, etc.:
