Solaris ONLY Upgrade 3 Built in Applique Pillow 04/13/23

Come learn all about the new built in applique stitches of the Solaris Vision, or Solaris models with the Upgrade 3 loaded.  We will be creating the pillow top only in this class, due to time restraints.  I put a zipper closing on mine, but you could make an envelope-type back with additional fabric.  Finished pillow size is 14"x14". Pam Damour's video, "Zip It Up!" on the Sewedclasses.com website shows you how to do the easy sew placket zipper with the 7-8mm double welting foot, that comes in the Solaris foot kit.


SUPPLIES TO BRING:

Solaris embroidery machine, embroidery unit, embroidery foot and 10 5/8in x 10 5/8in hoop
Applique scissors such as Snip-Eze

-Fabric 1/2 yard of linen-type fabric backed with Fusible Woven stabilizer from OESD (you could also use 2 of the Dunroven solid towels also to make your pillow, that will also make the placket strip for zipper.
-Polymesh stabilizer to fit in your hoop 1" larger than outer hoop on all edges
-Zipper for pillow is a 22 inch long one so that you don't have to fuss with sewing around the slide part.

-For appliques you will need:
machine "top"-7"x10" piece to use in a horizontal direction if using plaid, or directional print
-Machine base fabric- 2" x 10" piece
-Fabric under needle is a 4"x6" piece.  Watch the direction of fabric on this one if directional
I suggest that you use something like Babylock fusible applique stabilizer or OESD Applique Fuse and Fix to prevent show-through.  Steam-a- seam 2 light could also be used .

-Machine embroidery threads to coordinate with your colors of fabrics, prewound bobbin and center pin, OR a class 15 bobbin with bobbin thread that you wound yourself.  Color chart is found on your machine.  You can print the Embroidery Design guide for Upgrade 3.  Chart and directions are on page 3.  Colors in design may be up to 12 depending on how you embroider the flower embellishments


Note:  I would also recommend that if you haven't done so, go up to Babylock.com, Support, Solaris Vision Upgrade, and download the Instruction and Reference Guide for the Solaris and the Solaris 2 and print it out.  Here is a link. It is about 30 pages, but it will be used also in our future "Upgrade" Classes.
